City of Oak Forest Plan of Action relating to the Coronavirus (COVID -19) Outbreak

read carefully

The State of Illinois recently outlined significant steps to help protect residents against Coronavirus (COVID-19).  Building upon that, the City of Oak Forest has put together our own Plan of Action to protect the health of citizens of our town.  We are committed to carrying-on services to our residents, but will do so in a way that also helps protect city employees.  The following steps are effective immediately:

  • CITY HALL & OTHER BUILDINGS:  In order to minimize contact by maintaining distances between people, we encourage residents to conduct business remotely.  Although the Clerk’s Office will be open, we encourage residents NOT to come into City Hall unless it is necessary.  We can answer your questions or take your payments over the phone or online.  Please call 708-687-4050 or use the City’s website at  The night depository is located on the front wall of City Hall to the right of the doors.

  • POLICE DEPARTMENT:  Patrol activities and investigations will go on as usual, but the OFPD is encouraging people to report crimes through its’ non-emergency number at 708-687-1376 if they do not require immediate response and if no one is in danger.  A police officer will be dispatched if there is a crime in progress or its’ a serious offense.

  • FIRE DEPARTMENT:  Fire protection and emergency medical services will also go on as usual.  Fire Department personnel will need to take additional precautions to protect themselves as they interact with residents who may be potential carriers of Coronavirus, particularly those requiring medical services.  Contact the OFFD:  708-687-6050.

  • PUBLIC WORKS:  Public Works personnel do not interact with the public as often as public safety personnel do, but they are working throughout the city and do have contact with people, so there must be an adjustment in their interactions, too.  Bus services will be limited to essential trips only.  If you have questions or require the services of Public Works, please call 708-535-4090.

  • GENERAL INFORMATION:  When in doubt, we urge you to contact the City through the phone numbers provided above and its’ website at  Information will also be available in the City’s e-Briefs, as well as its’ Facebook and Twitter accounts.

In a situation such as we are facing with Coronavirus, we remind people to keep a safe distance from others, wash their hands and avoid crowds.  The City is going to continue to do its’ job, but we must keep our employees safe to help you, as residents.  Please help us help you by abiding by the suggestions, rules and regulations provided by the State of Illinois and City of Oak Forest
