Rich Simon has served as 2nd Ward alderman from 1973 to 1987 and from 1997 to present. As an alderman, he has worked on capital projects to alleviate flooding and drainage problems, infrastructure rehabilitation, and plans to create economic development opportunities.
Looking forward, Rich anticipates the completion of the Gateway Project; ongoing rehabilitation of city streets, sidewalks, water and sewer systems; continuation of quality municipal services; and improved communication among city officials, residents and business owners.
Active in his community, Rich is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he has been a member of the Oak Forest Bengal Football Boosters, Oak Forest Jaycees, Oak Forest Baseball Association Board of Directors and Oak Forest Girls Softball League.
A 10-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, Rich is the semi-retired owner of Simon Plumbing. Rich has lived in Oak Forest most of his life. He and his wife, Becky, have three children and 11 grandchildren.
