Veterans Commission

The Veterans Commission promotes programs for veterans, raises awareness of veterans' welfare issues, represents the city at community events, participates in programs with other veterans' groups, and recognizes the accomplishments of local veterans. In addition, the commission serves as a repository of information about veterans' issues, such as securing benefits from the federal government.  The commission meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.

Hometown Hereos Photo Board
The Oak Forest Veterans Commission has created a Hometown Heroes photo board in the lobby at City Hall. If you or a loved one is an active duty service person or veteran, please submit this form and a 4x6 photo (copies only) to City Hall by May 20. The photo board will be displayed in the lobby and at the city's Memorial Day ceremony.

Care packages
The Tinley Park VFW Post 2791 Family Support Group meets the first Tuesday of each month starting at 7:30 p.m.  The group regularly sends care packages to local soliders.  If you have a loved one serving in the military, please send an e-mail to jerry.styrsky@att.net so that the group can send one to him or her.
