Ordinance, Health and Apartment Inspections

The Community Development Department conducts routine inspections related to ordinance enforcement, food and multiple family apartments. These inspections are intended to ensure that life safety standards are followed and property values are maintained.

If you are aware of a community problem that needs attention, please contact the Community Development Department at 708-687-4050, ext.1042 or use the online report form.

Ordinance enforcement
Ordinance enforcement officers conduct proactive inspections within the community to identify nuisance and property violations. The officers also respond to citizen calls pertaining to problems observed within the neighborhoods. In most cases, problems are resolved through communication, however court action is aggressively pursued when violations are not corrected.

Health inspections
Health inspectors conduct two inspections per year for all establishments involved in the preparation and sale of food products. Health inspections are also undertaken for all food vendors participating in special events in Oak Forest.

Apartment inspections
All multiple family units within Oak Forest receive an annual inspection. The inspection focuses upon individual units and common areas of apartments to ensure that the facilities meet all building and life safety standards.
