Liquor License Training
The City of Oak Forest mandates educational training for all Class A and B liquor license holders, their employees and servers. Training is conducted in partnership with the Oak Forest Police Department and the Oak Forest Chamber of Commerce.
The goals and objectives of the program are to:
- Train and educate sellers and servers to engage in responsible alcohol service;
- Prevent DUIs and alcohol-related accidents and fatalities;
- Stop underage sales and underage drinking;
- Create safer communities and establishments where alcohol is served; and
- Educate owners, managers and staff on state and local laws regarding alcohol service.
The training teaches liquor servers the proper methods to scrutinize various forms of government-issued identification. The instructor also provides information about laws relative to servers and their responsibilities when selling or serving alcoholic beverages.
New license holders and employees not yet certified are required to attend the city's certification program. Individuals already certified through Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training (BASSET) are not required to attend the city's training.
