NEW: Public Works Department patches streets
The past winter was very hard on city streets with potholes and shifting pavements from the frost/freeze cycles. Streets Superintendent Joe Petrizzo's crews are hot-mix-asphalt patching select streets (based upon pavement conditions).
Hot-mix patching of additional streets will continue into September as weather conditions permit. Streets that have been patched as of August 1 include:

Concrete work is nearly completed on Oak Road, Orchard Lane, Pine Road, and Hickory Lane. Milling of the roadway and manhole adjustments will be done in the next couple weeks
(weather dependant) to get ready for paving.
On August 1, concrete crews will move to 157th Street and then Massasoit Avenue.
The rehabilitation work will include pavement resurfacing; areas of partial full-depth pavement removal and replacement; roadway base repairs; curb replacement; removal of asphalt ramps and mountable curbs across driveway entrances; partial driveway apron replacement to meet the grade of new curb lines; and sidewalk replacement. When curb and gutter are removed in front of your driveway, you will not be allowed to park in your driveway for 7 to 10 days in order to give the new concrete sufficient time to "cure" to support the weight of vehicular traffic. Curb and driveway apron replacements will be limited to one side of the street at a time to allow for on-street parking while the new concrete is curing.
UPDATE: Water main - Area C: Forest Avenue and George Brennan Highway
Parkway restorations with sod or seed blankets have been completed. Public Works is asking residents in this construction area to water the parkway in front of your home to help the sod get established.
The City of Oak Forest has been awarded a $593,000 grant from the state of Illinois "IKE" disaster recovery program to replace the failing Midlothian Creek culvert under Waverly Avenue. Design work has been completed and permit secured from the Army Corps of Engineers. Public Works is in the process of securing an engineering consultant to oversee the construction of this vital piece of community infrastructure.
