TEST INFORMATION SHEET – SEPTEMBER, 2019

POSITION: Maintenance Worker

APPLICATION:
Available beginning Friday, September 6, 2019 at 9:00 A.M.  All completed applications and required documents must be returned to the Written Examination site on Saturday, October 19, 2019.  The time and location are noted below.

FEES: Required non-refundable fees are as follows. $40 application packet; $12 paid to the Illinois Secretary of State for the Driver’s License Abstract; and $40 to Joliet Junior College for the Physical Agility examination.

POSITION HOURS:
Regular scheduled hours are 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., plus 24 hour on-call for emergencies.

SALARY: Starting rate: - $23.45 per hour for 90 days. Rate increases to $31.03 after 90 days, $32.67 after 2 years, and $34.39 after 4 years. Probationary period is 210 days.

ELIGIBILITY: Eligibility to take written examination include: Current valid driver’s license, social security card, current Illinois Secretary of State Driving Record Abstract (which may be obtained at any Secretary of State’s driver’s license facility), and copy of the Physical Agility Test results from Joliet Junior College (Information is attached concerning the Physical Agility Test).

Prior to hiring, all applicants must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, oral interview, a pre-employment/post offer screening program and must possess a valid Class ‘D’ driver’s license to be considered for employment.  Civil Service rules and EEOC guidelines apply.  If Military points are to apply, proof of Honorable Discharge (Form DD 214) must be furnished with the application.  Residency points may also apply.  However, only one set of points will be allowed (either military or residency, but not both).

EXAMINATIONS: The written examination will start promptly at 9:00 A.M., Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Oak Forest High School, 15201 S Central Avenue, Oak Forest, Illinois and will last approximately 1 ½ hours.  Applicants who pass the written examination (70%) will be notified within 30 days to return for an oral interview.  Applicants who pass the written examination will be asked to return for a practical test conducted by the Oak Forest Civil Service Commission. Qualified candidates will be offered a position contingent on satisfactorily completing a pre-employment physical examination, and drug screen.

NOTES:
A cumulative passing score of seventy percent is required for all Civil Service examinations.  Applicants will be notified of their final scores within 30 days.

Upon employment, the applicant must obtain a valid State of Illinois Class ‘B’ Commercial Driver’s License within 90 days.
