On December 25, 2024 at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Oak Forest Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at the 7-Eleven convenience store located at 4901 W. 167th Street. On scene, officers learned that three masked offenders, armed with handguns, forced the clerk to the back of the store, stole money and other items, and then fled the store. Later, police learned that the same offenders conducted similar armed robberies in neighboring communities.
After a thorough investigation by the Oak Forest Police Department’s Investigation Division, the following individuals have been charged with Class X armed robbery: 25-year-old Jamal Flex of Harvey, 22-year-old Lajuan Pouncey of Riverdale, and 24-year-old Brandon Smith of Chicago.
The Oak Forest Police Department appreciates the support of the Midlothian Police Department, Glenwood Police Department, Chicago Police Department, and other agencies throughout the investigation.
Members of the public are reminded that this arrest and complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
