The Oak Forest Police Department is working to educate the community about the laws and safety concerns associated with the use of e-bikes and e-scooters. Safety is our top priority — for riders, drivers and everyone sharing the road. It is imperative that all riders understand and comply with state and local laws to ensure safety on our streets, sidewalks and pathways.
Here are some key facts:
❌ E-scooters are not allowed in Oak Forest - unless on private property.
🚴Class 3 e-bike riders must be at least 16 years old.
🚲E-bikes must follow Bicycle Rules of the Road.
Read the Illinois Bicycle Rules of the Road.
A note to parents and guardians: Please carefully consider the maturity level of children to ensure they can follow traffic laws before purchasing e-bikes or e-scooters. Parents or guardians may be held responsible for minors involved in e-bike or e-scooter incidents.
Thank you for helping us keep Oak Forest safe for everyone!
