Celebrate the Christmas season with the City of Oak Forest on December 5


The City of Oak Forest invites residents, local business owners and visitors to its annual Christmas parade and tree lighting ceremony on Saturday, December 5.  The parade steps off from Oak Forest High School at 11 a.m. and makes its way down Central Avenue to City Hall for the tree lighting ceremony at the gazebo.

This Thanksgiving holiday, the Oak Forest Police Department is joining a national effort with the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois State Police, and other local law enforcement agencies to save more lives by strongly enforcing seat belt and impaired driving laws.

OFPD accepting applications for Citizens Police Academy


The Oak Forest Police Department is accepting applications for its Citizens Police Academy, a 12-week program designed to provide residents a working knowledge of law enforcement and police department operations.  The program is free of charge and is limited to 25 students.  

Fill the Squad

Fill the Squad Toy Drive is today!


Volunteers from the Oak Forest Police Department in partnership with Walgreens will be collecting donations of new and unwrapped toys to benefit the Marine Corps Reserve "Toys for Tots" Foundation. Please assist us in meeting our goal of filling at least one squad car full of toys. Santa Claus along with representatives from 101.9 FM The MIX will be present for a meet and greet. Thank you for supporting the Oak Forest Police Department, Walgreens, and the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation. Every child deserves a little Christmas.

Winter weather reminder 


Per city ordinance, residents cannot park vehicles on city streets at any time within 12 hours after a snowfall of two inches or more has occurred, unless the snow has been plowed off or otherwise removed from the street.

Public Hearing: Proposed Property Tax Increase


There will be a public hearing on Tuesday, December 8 at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers to approve a proposed property tax increase for the City of Oak Forest.  Any person desiring to appear at the public hearing and present testimony to the taxing district may contact City Clerk Scott Burkhardt at 708-687-4050.

City Hall will be closed today and tomorrow due to the Thanksgiving holiday. During non-business hours, please use the night deposit mail slot at City Hall, pay parking or ordinance tickets online or sign up for online water bill payments.

Also, please note that garbage pickup will be one day late.
