After seven years of service, Oak Forest Police Chief Greg Anderson has announced his retirement, effective September 18.
“From day one, Greg was a change agent in the police department,” said Mayor Hank Kuspa. “He always asked the tough questions to get us thinking and keep us moving in the right direction. His vast experience in law enforcement helped to enhance many of our procedures and introduce some innovate programs. We are grateful for his service and wish him well on his future endeavors.”

The City of Oak Forest has hired Dorienne Preer as human resources manager, effective October 3. Preer’s appointment was approved by the City Council on August 23.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Dorienne to the team,” said City Administrator Troy Ishler. “She has an extensive background in human resource management, which will be a terrific asset for the city.”

The Oak Forest Senior Commission will host its 15th Annual Senior Health Fair on Thursday, October 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oak Forest Park District at 15601 S. Central Avenue. Admission to the fair is free.

Bremen Township is open for tax appeals until September 20. Appeal forms are available at City Hall. They must be completed and returned by September 26.  On Wednesday, Mayor Hank Kuspa participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Oak Forest Heritage Preserve. The 176-acre site next to the Oak Forest Health Center campus is an important ecological and cultural site, which now offers a 1.7-mile paved trail for visitors along with various interpretive, educational nodes explaining the history of the preserve, which includes the first Native American village found in northeastern Illinois.  Congratulations to Colonel Kevin Madden, Class of 1977, who was inducted to the Oak Forest High School Hall of Fame. The "Pride of Oak Forest," Madden served as a United States Army Cavalry and Foreign Area Officer from 1982 until 2011. The City Council will meet on Tuesday, September 13 at 8 p.m. for its regular meeting in Council Chambers at City Hall. Citizens are invited to attend the meetings and are welcome to participate at the designated time.
