City seeking applicants for telecommunicator


The Civil Service Commission of the City of Oak Forest is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of emergency telecommunicator.  Applications are available at City Hall ($35, non-refundable) and are due to the Human Resources Office no later than 3 p.m. on February 3.

City Hall will be closed tomorrow.  During non-business hours, please use the night deposit mail slot at City Hall, pay parking or ordinance tickets online or sign up for online water bill payments.

City Council meets next week


The City Council will meet on Tuesday, January 24 at 8 p.m. for its regular meeting in Council Chambers at City Hall.  Citizens are invited to attend the meetings and are welcome to participate at the designated time.

Edizon Dayao returns to the senior luncheon


Back by popular demand, singer Edizon Dayao will be at the January 26 senior lunch at 11 a.m. at the Community Center.  Edizon will be making magic on the keyboard, bringing the sounds of a tropical luau to help us warm during this cold Chicago winter.

Seniors: Learn how to add movement to your day to improve your health


On Monday, January 30 at 10:30 a.m., join Bremen Township and AgeOptions at a special coffee talk with an Ingalls heart health coordinator, who will present simple steps to add movement to your daily routine and increase your health benefits.  The presentation will take place at the Bremen Township Senior Cafe at 15350 S. Oak Park Avenue.  For more information or to register for this free program, call 708-687-8220. Also, be sure to ask about our senior lunch program, which is open to all seniors ages 60 plus.

If you are a cable television subscriber, you can view the Community Information Channel (CIC-TV) on Comcast channel 19, Wide Open West channel 6 and AT&T U-verse channel 99 to learn more about city programs and events.  If you do not subscribe to cable television, you can watch Committee of the Whole and City Council meetings online or check out the DVDs at Acorn Public Library.
