Bandstra appointed economic development director


The City of Oak Forest has hired Travis Bandstra as economic and community development director, effective April 17.  Bandstra’s appointment was approved by the City Council on March 28.

Early Voting

Early voting ends Monday


Early voting at City Hall takes place Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Voters do not need to provide an excuse or reason why they cannot vote on Election Day. A government-issued photo ID is not required but is helpful if there is a question about your registration, address or signature. Providing an ID can also speed up the process because there will be ID card readers at every check-in station.

Pete & Joe to perform at senior luncheon


Pete & Joe, an entertaining duo, will bring their song and wit to the Senior Luncheon on Thursday, April 27 at 11 a.m. at the Community Center. Ticket are available at City Hall for only $4 each. 

Bremen Township hosts Ladies' Day Out


Bremen Township will present a Women's Wellness Painting Party on Tuesday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Township Senior Center, 15350 S. Oak Park Ave., Oak Forest. This event is open to seniors age 60 plus.  A fee of $10 includes step-by-step instruction on painting a 16x20 canvas of pastel hydrangeas, also paint supplies and a smock for the day. You will be amazed at what you can paint with the proper instruction! Trying new things is great for brain health! Coffee will be provided. For more information, call 708-687-8220. Registration is limited to Bremen Township residents until April 6.    

Park District hosts open house


“Come in to Play” at the Oak Forest Park District on Saturday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this open house, you can learn more about: summer camps, fitness classes, adult trips, preschool, sports and dance programs, Leadership COURT, and much more. You might also win discounts on participating programs! And, don't miss the annual outdoor Egg Hunt (see times on picture) or Flag Football and Cheerleading registration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Oak Room. There's something for everyone so stop by and play!

City Hall will be closed tomorrow


City Hall will be closed tomorrow.  During non-business hours, please use the night deposit mail slot at City Hall, pay parking or ordinance tickets online or sign up for online water bill payments.

If you are a cable television subscriber, you can view the Community Information Channel (CIC-TV) on Comcast channel 19, Wide Open West channel 6 and AT&T U-verse channel 99 to learn more about city programs and events.  If you do not subscribe to cable television, you can watch Committee of the Whole and City Council meetings online or check out the DVDs at Acorn Public Library.
