As the weather warms up, the Building Department has been receiving calls from homeowners and contractors who are anxious to get started on home improvement projects.  Read these helpful hints before planning your spring projects. 

BBB advises against spring home repair scams


Homeowners throughout Chicago and northern Illinois are spiffing up their homes and yards with a variety of improvement projects. But, the Better Business Bureau warns there are crooks and con-artists looking to clean up by taking advantage of those same homeowners. Every year hundreds of complaints roll in regarding Air Conditioning and Heating, and Landscape Contractors.

April food day donations
April Food Day was a huge success thanks to you!  We collected more than 400 pounds of food to donate to St. Damian Food Pantry as apart of the April Food Day campaign.

Pete & Joe to perform at senior luncheon


Pete & Joe, an entertaining duo, will bring their song and wit to the Senior Luncheon on Thursday, April 27 at 11 a.m. at the Community Center. Ticket are available at City Hall for only $4 each.

City Hall will be closed tomorrow.  During non-business hours, please use the night deposit mail slot at City Hall, pay parking or ordinance tickets online or sign up for online water bill payments.

City Council meets next week


The City Council will meet on Tuesday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. (Committee of the Whole) and at 8 p.m. for its regular meeting in Council Chambers at City Hall.  Citizens are invited to attend the meetings and are welcome to participate at the designated time.

If you are a cable television subscriber, you can view the Community Information Channel (CIC-TV) on Comcast channel 19, Wide Open West channel 6 and AT&T U-verse channel 99 to learn more about city programs and events.  If you do not subscribe to cable television, you can watch Committee of the Whole and City Council meetings online or check out the DVDs at Acorn Public Library.
