Water and sewer rates to go up May 1


After a two-year rate freeze, the City of Oak Forest will increase its water and sewer rates on May 1 to cover the cost of operations as well as a 1.7% increase from its suppliers – the City of Chicago and the Village of Oak Lawn.  According to revenue policies, the city’s water and sewer fund must be a self-supporting one.   

Eagle Sports Range

Oak Forest Police respond to break-in at Eagle Sports Range


On April 28 at approximately 4:30 a.m., Oak Forest police officers responded to a glass break alarm at the Eagle Sports Range at 5900 W. 159th Street.  After speaking with the business owner, officers learned that approximately 40 firearms were removed from the premises.  This offense is under investigation.

Opening Day is tomorrow


Opening Day for Oak Forest Baseball Association is tomorrow. We wish all of the players and coaches a fun, safe and successful season!  Please note the parade steps off from Kerkstra Elementary School at 9:10 a.m. and heads to Jack Hille Middle School.  Please be patient if you are driving in the area at that time.

The third and fourth graders at Scarlet Oak Elementary School celebrated Arbor Day this afternoon by helping the City of Oak Forest plant an Oak tree on school grounds.

Become a trained weather spotter 


The National Weather Service in Chicago is offering a free severe weather / tornado course to the public in Oak Forest. This course provides information on how to safely identify severe weather incidents and how to report them to the weather service. Trained spotters play an essential role in providing advance notice of severe weather to the public.
