City names Patrick Duffy fire chief


The City of Oak Forest has named Patrick Duffy as its new fire chief.  Duffy has been a firefighter/paramedic with the Oak Forest Fire Department since 1989, most recently serving as deputy fire chief.  Duffy will be officially sworn in as fire chief at the July 11 City Council meeting.

LIVING OAK FOREST BLOG: Cheer on the Oak Forest Police Department Law Enforcement Torch Run team on July 22 at the "Five-O at the Dirty-O" stock car race at the Route 66 Raceway in Joliet. The team will compete against police officers from across the state to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois. You can check out the car before race day at Allied Building Products on July 14.

Emergency management officials urge caution when temperatures rise


Each year in the U.S., an average of 37 children die from heatstroke after being left in locked cars. So far in 2017, 14 child fatalities have occurred. With the hottest days of summer just around the corner, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and county and municipal emergency management agencies are urging parents to take steps to ensure their children aren’t locked in a hot car.  Emergency management officials will be offering heat safety tips throughout July as part of Heat Safety Awareness Month in Illinois.

City Hall will be closed tomorrow.  During non-business hours, please use the night deposit mail slot at City Hall, pay parking or ordinance tickets online or sign up for online water bill payments.


The City Council will meet on Tuesday, July 11 at 8 p.m. for its regular meeting.  Citizens are invited to attend the meeting and are welcome to participate at the designated time.
