The City of Oak Forest is conducting a three-week, citywide leak survey of its water distribution system. The city's goals are to locate and repair leaks and develop a long-term water loss reduction plan for the water distribution system.

Recycle electronics on May 30

We're kicking off the Oak Forest Farmers Market on May 30 with an electronics recycling event sponsored by the Oak Forest Green Steps Commission. Recycling will take place at the Metra train station from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Be sure to visit the Farmers Market on your way out! Please note: VetTech.Us is charging $10 per TV.

New Business Spotlight: Dee Dee's Takeout

Dee Dee's Takeout at 16142 S. Cicero Avenue, is a locally owned and family operated Southern-style restaurant. Its signature menu items are fried chicken wings and fish, which are seasoned to perfection and made-to-order. Dee Dee's Takeout is named after the owner and founder, who created many of the recipes for the restaurant. The mouthwatering recipes were taught to her by her mother, combined with a pinch of her own flavor and style. Cook County hosts Rabies Vaccine Clinic on June 2

Cook County Department of Animal and Rabies Control will be providing low-cost rabies shots to dog, cats and ferrets of Cook County residents. Mobile clinic services will be offered on a first -come, first served basis until 2:45 p.m. Pet owners must present a valid driver's license or state ID. For public safety, all pets must be leashed or caged at all times. Microchips WILL NOT be available at this event.

If you are a cable television subscriber, you can view the Community Information Channel (CIC-TV) on Comcast channel 19, Wide Open West channel 6 and AT&T U-verse channel 99 to learn more about city programs and events. If you do not subscribe to cable television, you can watch Committee of the Whole and City Council meetings online or check out the DVDs at Acorn Public Library.
