Deputy Chief Tim Kristin has been designated as a certified eligible police chief through the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.  Kristin is among only a select few Illinois police command staff able to meet the stringent requirements of the program since its inception in 1998.

The official grand opening of Camp Sullivan in Oak Forest marked the first time the public can use the site in more than 50 years.

“The City of Oak Forest has been a destination for scouting groups for many years,” said Oak Forest Mayor Hank Kuspa. “We’re excited to have a revitalized Camp Sullivan in our backyard available to everyone.”

The deadline to apply for a Forest in Bloom Award is Wednesday.  The Forest in Bloom Awards are presented annually to Oak Forest residents, businesses and organizations who take the extra steps necessary to beautify their homes and properties through exceptional landscaping.

Water Department resumes fire hydrant painting program


Year two of the Oak Forest Water Department's three-year fire hydrant painting program will begin next week.  Approximately 430 hydrants will be painted in the following subdivisions: Fieldcrest, Friendly Oaks, Gingerwood, Landings, Oak Forest Club, Ridgewood Estates.
