Join the Oak Forest Crime Prevention Commission, the Oak Forest Police Department and fellow residents in maintaining a safe and vibrant community at the 19th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the gazebo at City Hall.

The City of Oak Forest is selling by sealed bid two vehicles that are no longer required for city service.  Bids are due July 30 by 4 p.m. 

Community Bus

Help Wanted: Part-time Community Bus Driver  


Join our team as a part-time community bus driver.Having experience operating a minimum 26-foot passenger bus or equivalent type of vehicle is desired. Having a detailed knowledge of the streets and business locations within the City of Oak Forest is strongly preferred. The possession of a state of Illinois Class ‘C’ Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a Passenger Endorsement is mandatory. 

Learn what’s going on at upcoming council meetings 


The City Council will meet on Tuesday, July 28 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall for a Committee of the Whole meeting.  The City Council also will meet at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers for its regularly scheduled meeting.  Citizens are invited to attend both meetings and are welcome to participate at the designated times.

Fire Up a Cure with the Oak Forest Fire Department 


Join the Oak Forest Fire Department on Saturday, July 25 at 11 a.m. at Saint Xavier University to watch our firefighters compete in a tug-of-war, obstacle course, fire truck pull, and more. They are coming together with other local firefighters, supporters, neighbors, and friends to raise money for an amazing cause: the Cure It Foundation's Fire Up A Cure for childhood cancer.

Stop by the farmers market on Saturday


The Oak Forest Farmers Market will be open on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the train station.  Stop by and check out the fresh produce, grass-fed meat, delicious jams, bakery goods, and more.

If you are a cable television subscriber, you can view the Community Information Channel (CIC-TV) on Comcast channel 19, Wide Open West channel 6 and AT&T U-verse channel 99 to learn more about city programs and events.  If you do not subscribe to cable television, you can watch Committee of the Whole and City Council meetings online or check out the DVDs at Acorn Public Library.
