Oak Forest High School Seniors Raise Money For Childhood CancerSince 2015, Oak Forest High School students have raised money for the Children's Oncology Group to help aid research in finding a cure for childhood cancers.
Headed by the Oak Forest High School Key Club, the school collected donations during second hour for two groups; Julia 's Legacy of Hope, a division of The Cure It Foundation in memory of Julia James, an OFHS soccer and 2011 graduate who battled Leukemia before her passing; and Tinlee Kimbrough, the two and a half-year-old daughter of OFHS Class of 2004 graduate, Taylor Kimbrough. Tinlee is currently battling Leukemia.
Last year the school raised $1,200 for their cause. This year the Key Club ended up raising exactly $1532.44 for fellow alum and their families who have been impacted by childhood cancer this year.

New 6th District Office in City Hall On Tuesday, March 26, 2019, Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller officially opened her new 6th District Office with the help of her family, and many friends from the 6th District. The new office is located inside Oak Forest City Hall located at 15440 S. Central Avenue.
Commissioner Miller is the newest member on the Cook County Board of Commissioners. The Board of Commissioners is the governing board and legislative body of the county. It is comprised of 17 Commissioners, each serving a four-year term and is elected from single member districts. Each district represents approximately 300,000 residents.The Board of Commissioners is responsible for the management of the affairs of Cook County.
The new office location gives 6th District citizens a closer connection with Commissioner Miller and her team without having to visit the District Office in Chicago. Congresswoman Kelly to Host 6th Annual Youth Job Expo April 13 Congresswoman Robin Kelly will host a Youth Job Expo for young men and women between the ages of 16 and 23 on Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, in the Media Center of Rich South High School, 5000 Sauk Trail, Richton Park.
More than 50 employers will be accepting applications for active job openings, summer internships and apprenticeships. Representatives from various agencies and youth services will also be on hand to talk with young people about program offerings that will help them succeed. Business attire is highly recommended. Bring resumes with you, as some employers may conduct interviews on-site. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Parking is available outside the school’s auditorium, just off Sauk Trail on the north end of the West Lot.
Prior to the Expo, Rep. Kelly is sponsoring a Job Readiness Workshop to help young people enhance their interview skills, build their resumes, and more. The workshop takes place Thursday, April 3, at 4 p.m., at Rich South High School. For questions about the Job Readiness Workshop, contact Ms. Hope Stovall at (708) 710-2643.

Join the Oak Forest Senior Commission! The Oak Forest Senior Commission is looking for senior citizens who might like to serve as members of this commission, which meets in City Hall on every second Wednesday of the month at 1:00 PM.
The Senior Commission gets involved in various community events, such as the annual Health Fair at the Oak Forest Park District and monthly senior lunches at the Oak Forest Community Center.
