Project Fire Buddies

Project Fire Buddies

Oak Forest firefighter and paramedic Kurt DeGroot often wondered what else he could do to help children battling a severe illness after his experiences while working for the Fire Department.

As a way to give extra time and attention to children in the community, DeGroot created Project Fire Buddies, a volunteer program where firefighters can spread some joy and support to children by playing a board game, just hanging out, or something as simple as showing up with their shiny red fire truck

DeGroot leads Project Fire Buddies into its third year. If you know of any child that needs a little uplifting and cheer, contact Kurt DeGroot through the organization Facebook Page.
