17th Annual Cop On a Rooftop Friday, May 17 from 5 AM to Noon
Help the Oak Forest Police Department heighten awareness and raise money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois.
Officers will stake out the Dunkin' located at 5159 W. 159th Street, Oak Forest, on Friday, May 17 from 5 AM to Noon. 100% of all donations will benefit the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois. Come out to show your support!

National Public Works Week May 19 - 25 May 19-25 is National Public Works Week! The American Public Works Association's (APWA) main goal is to educate the general public about the value and necessities of public works projects throughout North America.
Since 1960, APWA has sponsored National Public Works Week to energize and educate the public on the importance of public works to their daily lives: planning, building, managing and operating at the heart of their local communities to improve everyday quality of life.

Memorial Day Flag Volunteers Needed
Volunteers needed! On Saturday, May 25, the City will be placing flags in the right-of-ways along Cicero, Central, and 159th, among other streets. The City has more than 3,000 flags to distribute and needs volunteers to help place them.
If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, please contact City Hall at 708-687-4050. Volunteers will meet at City Hall at 10 AM.

Memorial Day Ceremony Monday, May 27, 2019 at 11 AM
Please join the Owen W. Winter, Jr. VFW Post 4241 and the City of Oak Forest for the 2019 Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 27, 2019 at the Veterans Memorial outside City Hall. Program begins at 11 AM.
Local organizations and businesses will present wreaths to honor our veterans as a reminder of the sacrifices they made while in service.

Local Construction Company Receives Award The owners of DNR Construction are from Oak Forest and have been doing a great job in our community working with ComEd and the Chicagoland Vintage Home Association to provide eligible homeowners with free home energy upgrades through the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program. Recently, DNR Construction went to Washington, D.C. to accept the 2019 Energy Star Contractor of the Year Award. Each year, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) honors a group of businesses and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency achievements
The City of Oak Forest would like to recognize DNR Construction for receiving this award and thank them for their fine work in our community.

Join the Oak Forest Senior Commission! The Oak Forest Senior Commission is looking for senior citizens who might like to serve as members of this commission, which meets in City Hall on every second Wednesday of the month at 1:00 PM.
The Senior Commission gets involved in various community events, such as the annual Health Fair at the Oak Forest Park District and monthly senior lunches at the Oak Forest Community Center.

Senior Health Insurance Program Discussion at Bremen Township Thursday, May 23 at 10:45 AM A representative from Catholic Charities, with a grant through the federal Older Americans Act, will discuss the Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) on Thursday, May 23 at 10:45 AM at the Bremen Township Cafe,15350 Oak Park Avenue.
Bremen Township will host a counselor to assist individuals with questions or problems regarding Medicare A and B, Medicare Supplement Policies, Medicaid, Prescription Drug Plans, Medicare Advantage plans, eligibility for entitlement programs and more.
Also, if you are turning 65 and have questions about what to do, SHIP counselors can help. Bring any letters you have received and may have questions about.
