Vehicle stickers are now on sale.  Residents that currently have their vehicles registered with the city, should have received their applications in the mail. Senior citizens, 65 and older, are eligible to receive two free vehicle stickers per household with proper ID and vehicle registration.

Free rain barrels available to residents


The City of Oak Forest, in conjunction with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, is pleased to offer free rain barrels to our residents. There is a limit of four barrels per household. 

Relay for Life

Relay for Life is June 18


Relay for Life Oak Forest begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 at the Oak Forest Park District.  Please join Relay organizers and participants for the Hero's Lap to honor all active and retired military, law enforcement, fire, doctors, nurses, EMTs, and cancer patient caregivers will be held at 3 p.m. 

Vocal Illusion headlines next senior lunch 


Vocal Illusion, musical entertainers, singing pop favorites, are the featured entertainment at the June 23 luncheon hosted by the Oak Forest Senior Commission. The event takes place at the Oak Forest Community Center at 15500 S. Kilpatrick. Doors open at 10 a.m; entertainment starts at 11 a.m.  Admission price is $4 and includes lunch (pulled pork sandwiches, & coleslaw) served at noon and free cash bingo at 12:45 p.m. Tickets are available at City Hall or at the door.

City Hall will be open Saturday, June 11 from 9 a.m. to noon.

City Council meets next week


The City Council will meet on Tuesday, June 14 at 8 p.m. for its regular meeting in Council Chambers at City Hall.  Citizens are invited to attend the meetings and are welcome to participate at the designated time.

Surplus vehicles up for bid


The City Clerk's Office has three surplus vehicles up for bid.  The vehicles are no longer required for city service and are offered for sale by seal bid only.  All bids are due by June 16 at 4 p.m. at City Hall.

If you are a cable television subscriber, you can view the Community Information Channel (CIC-TV) on Comcast channel 19, Wide Open West channel 6 and AT&T U-verse channel 99 to learn more about city programs and events.  If you do not subscribe to cable television, you can watch Committee of the Whole and City Council meetings online or check out the DVDs at Acorn Public Library.
