Oak Forest Fire Chief Jack Janozik announces retirement 


After 25 years of full-time service, Oak Forest Fire Chief Jack Janozik has announced his retirement, effective June 29. “We will certainly miss Jack and all of the experience and wisdom more than 25 years with the same department brings to an organization,” said Mayor Hank Kuspa.  “We are grateful for his service and wish him well in retirement.”

Purchase your vehicle sticker before the price doubles on July 1


All vehicles that are housed in Oak Forest must be registered with the city and must display a current vehicle sticker.  Purchase your sticker(s) online, at City Hall or through the mail before the price doubles on July 1.  Tomorrow is the last Saturday that City Hall will be open (9 a.m. to noon) before the price doubles. 

Help the OFFD 'Fill the Pack' for local school children


Did you know that more than 200 young people in Oak Forest begin their school year at a disadvantage because they do not have the necessary supplies?  That is why the Oak Forest Fire Department, the Forest Ridge PTA, the Oak Forest Rotary Club, and Firefighters Union Local 3039 are teaming up to collect school supplies, backpacks and monetary donations for their "Fill the Pack Drive."

Oak Fest carnival mega passes go on sale tomorrow at City Hall


Get your carnival mega pass for only $60 tomorrow at City Hall from 9 a.m. to noon.  Can't make it tomorrow? Passes will be on sale at City Hall through June 29 from noon to 5 p.m.  You can also purchase Oak Fest t-shirts for $15 each or two for $26, while supplies last.  The price for mega passes goes up to $75 at the carnival.

CORRECTION: The address of the Oak Forest Animal Control facility was incorrect in last week's e-Briefs. The correct address is 15710 S. Lorel Avenue.  Donations are accepted Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friends of Oak Forest Animal Control are grateful for donations of dog/cat food, treats, toys, kitty litter, and blankets. Thank you to all of our residents who support the efforts of our Animal Control volunteers. 

Read the city's annual drinking water quality report


The city's annual drinking water quality report is now available online. This report is intended to provide you with important information about your drinking water and the efforts made by the Oak Forest water system to provide safe drinking water.

City Hall is open tomorrow


City Hall is open Saturday, June 24 from 9 a.m. to noon.  Don't miss this opportunity to purchase your vehicle sticker(s).  


The City Council will meet on Tuesday, June 27 at 6:30 p.m. (Committee of the Whole) and 8 p.m. for its regular meeting.  Citizens are invited to attend the meeting and are welcome to participate at the designated time.

Cool off at the Gingerwood Pool


The Gingerwood Pool at 5124 Aldersyde Road is open to all Oak Forest residents.  Daily operating hours are noon to 8 p.m., weather permitting.  Family membership starts at $200, daily swim is $8, and a 10-punch card is available for $50.  For additional membership information, pool rules and party details, click here
