K9s for Cops

Statue pays tribute to beloved Oak Forest police dogs

LIVING OAK FOREST BLOG: Oak Forest Police Officer Jason Vodnik explains why it was so important to be a part of K9s for Cops, a new public art project conceived by the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation and PAWS Chicago. With the help of volunteers, Vodnik raised enough money to secure a life-size German Shepherd statue that pays tribute to Oak Forest's beloved police dogs. The statue will be displayed on Michigan Avenue this summer. It will arrive home in Oak Forest in September.
Happy Fourth of July
fireworks
The City of Oak Forest reminds residents that fireworks are illegal in the state of Illinois. Fireworks, even sparklers, can be dangerous, causing serious burn and eye injuries. Leave the show to the pros and enjoy the fireworks at Oak Fest on the Fourth of July at dusk.
