The City of Oak Forest and VFW Post 4241 will hold its annual Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 25 at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial at City Hall.

On Friday, May 29, from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oak Forest police officers will perch themselves on the rooftop of the Dunkin Donuts on 159th Street to heighten awareness and raise money for the Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics Illinois.

The City Council will meet on Tuesday, May 26 at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. Citizens are invited to attend City Council meetings and are welcome to participate at the designated time.

Cook County Department of Animal and Rabies Control will be providing low-cost rabies shots to dog, cats and ferrets of Cook County residents. Mobile clinic services will be offered on a first -come, first served basis until 2:45 p.m. Pet owners must present a valid driver's license or state ID. For public safety, all pets must be leashed or caged at all times. Microchips WILL NOT be available at this event.
