CVHA, formerly the Chicago Bungalow Association, has helped 3700 homes in Chicago for the past 17 years with a staggering satisfaction rating of 9.98 out of 10! Check your eligibility below and apply. No detailed financial information needed!
Eligibility
To qualify for this program you must meet the following criteria: - Vintage single-family home built at least 50 years ago
- Home must be owner-occupied and receive electric delivery service from ComEd
- Located in Cook County
- Household income of 80% Area Median Income (AMI) or lower—see chart here.
Complete and submit the application either online or with the paper form. Paper forms are available at the City Hall front desk or you can download one here. Remember that no detailed financial information is needed except an approximate household income. The ComEd® Energy Efficiency Program services include attic and sidewall insulation, air sealing, health and safety measures, and installation of energy-saving products. Citywide Garage Sale 2018Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2 from 8 AM to 3 PM
Registration ends next Friday, May 25
One week remains to register for the City of Oak Forest Citywide Garage Sale. Register by May 25 to guarantee that your sale will be added to the list of participating homes. Visit the City website or the link below to fill out the simple online form with your information and to select which days your garage sale will take place. No permits needed!
For your convenience, Goodwill Industries will have trucks available in two locations accepting donations of your unsold sale items, or for anything else you would like to donate. Donation trucks will be stationed at 2 locations from 12:00 - 3:30 pm on Saturday, June 2nd:

Donations of clothing, toys, small household items and furniture will be accepted. Tax receipts will be provided as well.

The Friends of Oak Forest Animal Control invite you to join them Saturday, July 14th, 6:05pm game time to watch The Windy City Thunderbolts take on the Joliet Slammers at the Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood!
Your $10 ticket includes the Jimmy Buffet Night, a pre-game concert, cheeseburger and margarita specials in a family friendly surrounding. Your night with us will be capped off with an excellent fireworks show too!
With each ticket sale $4.00 goes directly to veterinary expenses of the cats and dogs in our care, initial exams as well as emergency medical procedures to get them on their way to a new forever home.

The 4th Annual James P. Morrissy Scholarship
We proudly announce that the winner of the 2018 Officer James P. Morrissy Scholarship is Bridget Giblin. Bridget was a President’s Award Scholar, Challenge Curriculum Participant, Member of the National Honor Society, and Illinois State Scholar. In addition to her academic achievements, Bridget was also a three year member of the varsity volley ball team. Bridget will be attending North Central College in Naperville, Illinois and majoring in Biology with the intent of entering the medical field.
About the Scholarship
On March 17, 2014 Officer James Morrissy #172 was responding to a Domestic Disturbance call and collided with another vehicle. Officer Morrissy sustained serious injuries and ultimately died as a result.
Officer James P. Morrissy was a dedicated police officer for the City of Oak Forest for over three decades. As part of Officer Morrissy’s duties, he provided leadership and guidance to the department’s new recruits. Officer Morrissy played an important role in the field training process as a recruit’s first exposure to the on the job training program. James P. Morrissy was a police officer who up until his last day of service maintained the highest level of integrity and dedication that all police officers should strive to duplicate.
As a lifelong resident of Oak Forest, Officer Morrissy was a graduate of Bremen High School District 228 and his three sons graduated from Oak Forest High School. To honor Officer Morrissy’s memory and his dedication to education, the Oak Forest Police Association created the Officer James P Morrissy Scholarship to assist a deserving Oak Forest High School student in their pursuit of higher education. The applicant’s submitted essays which were reviewed by the Police Association and Officer Morrissy’s family.
We want to thank all the applicants for their hard work and community service.

Join TEDxYouth@OakParkAve Sunday, June 3 for a series of talks by local speakers at Gaelic Park.TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks in 18 minutes or less.
TedxYouth@OakParkAve, organized by Oak Forest High School student, Annais Gangolf, will feature a series of informal talks and videos by inspirational individuals from the Oak Forest area who will share their ideas on how we can construct a better world. The series theme is "You hold the power" where speakers will share ideas about power, personal and other, and our access to it. As the access to knowledge becomes faster and easier, many are feeling more powerless, especially our youth.

The Oak Forest Senior Commission is looking for senior citizens who might like to serve as members of this commission, which meets in City Hall on every second Wednesday of the month at 1:00 PM.
The Senior Commission gets involved in various community events, such as the annual Health Fair at the Oak Forest Park District and monthly senior lunches at the Oak Forest Community Center.

Outstanding Lunches Served to Seniors Monday-Friday!
Bremen Township continues to serve hot lunches Monday-Friday at noon, at our Senior Café located at 15350 S. Oak Park Avenue, Oak Forest. Seniors age 60+ are eligible for this meal funded in partnership with AgeOptions.
A donation of $4.00 is requested but is not required. Reservations are also requested but are not always required, depending on availability. Menus are available at Oak Forest City Hall, the Bremen Township buildings on Oak Park Avenue and online at www.brementownship.net (click on "Services" on the home page and then "Senior Services").
If you'd like to drop in and check it out, the Café opens at 10am. Coffee is available at no charge; Lunch begins at 12 Noon. For more information or to make a reservation, call 708-687-8220.
